There's this feeling that I crave when I've been cooped up: it comes from a place of indulgence, a deep and refreshing pause. It's a place where I can feel the soft touch of stone that's been slowly heating up from the heat of the day. It's where my skin is alive with a puzzling mix of hot sun and cool splashes. It's where you can hear the breeze before it rushes to you with a warm embrace. It's where there's nothing to do but to let go, dive in and be free. This, to me, is my perfect escape.

Illustration Prompt: Palm Springs
I took a (virtual) holiday to Palm Springs to curate the colours, tone, composition and approach to the illustration.
.
A series of thumbnail sketches create a quick way for me to dive in,  test out approaches and compare options for composition.
.
I selected the best of the thumbnails to advance in grayscale to start developing the feeling of a blazing sunk and fresh open skies.
.

With the addition of colour, the composition can now capture the emotion and vibe that was established in the original intention.
.
Option One was selected by the team since the main figure directs your attention to the feeling of relaxing at the poolside without a worry in the world. We agreed that it would be better to add the burst of colour from Option Two.
